Supermarkets
- El Corte Ingles is by far the largest supermarket with an extensive selection of grocery items, 11 minute walk from the apartment
- SuperSol, 8 minute walk from the apartment
If you require something quick like a bottle of water, snacks, or even wine there are two mini variety stores which are as follows:
- Supermercado Preba, Calle Fernan Gonzalez, 4 minute walk from the apartment
- Alimentacion Guo, Calle Especeria, 3 minute walk from the apartment
Fresh Foods Markets
There are two fresh food markets in Malaga. By far the most popular is Mercado Central de Atarazanas. You will be marveled by the selection of fruits, vegetables, fish, meat, cheese, and deli. You can also have lunch with a few tapas and a glass of wine. Mercado Central is a 7 minute walk from the apartment. The second market is much smaller, and not as touristy. La Merced Gourmet Market is a 8 minute walk from the apartment
Bio-Organic Stores
El Cambio on Calle Carreteria, 5 minute walk from the apartment. There is another location on Calle Compania which is a 4 minute walk
Bakery
La Bella Julietta is our favourite. Located at the base of Calle Nueva, Calle Puerta del Mar, 6 minute walk from the apartment. There is another location on Calle Santa Lucia, 1 minute walk from the apartment. Brunchit which is another favourite also has two locations. Calle Alhondiga which is a 5 minute walk from the apartment, and Calle Carreteria which is also a 5 minute walk from the apartment. Of course there are so many places to have breakfast such as Café Central, Granier, and Julia bakery (already listed in the bakery and coffee sections)
Coffee
There is no better way to manage the beautiful sunny days in Malaga than having ice cream. Our favourite places to visit are virtually all located near Plaza de la Constitucion, or on Calle Marques de Larios.
Desiderio, Heladeria Chocolate, Amorino, Casa Mira, and Conico are your options. Try them all and revisit your favourite one!

Pastry Shop
You must visit Avila, the pastry shop under the apartment which offers fantastic bite sized desserts and specialty cakes that will keep you going back for more.
Another nice treat is Sabor a Espana, just around the corner from the apartment on Calle Santa Maria, 21. Really nice turroneros which is a local delight. They provide free samples all day long so feel free to take one!
Hamburgers
Our favourite is La Burgesita, Calle Moreno Monroy, 5, barely a 2 minute walk from the apartment. This place is on a street just off Calle Marques de Larios which has some of the best restaurants mixing traditional tapas and fusion. TGB (The Good Burger) is a good quality burger but considered a “cheaper eat” in comparison to La Burgesita.
Located on the same street as La Burgesita on Calle Moreno Monroy, 1. For those that want their North American fix, there is a McDonalds and Burger King at the base of Calle Marques de Larios
Restaurants
Boasting some of the best restaurants in Spain, Malaga attracts diners from all over the Costa del Sol. Whether it is tapas bars, fine dining restaurants, fast food or excellent fresh fish you are after, you will find it here. TripAdvisor has 1,958 documented restaurants which contain a review. I would venture to guess there may be more.
Our apartment is within walking distance of many, many restaurants. On the apartment’s street there is La Pampa Grill, and La Reserva del Pastor – Cocina. Undoubtedly one of the best streets for fantastic tapas – fusion options is Calle Fresca – Calle Moreno Monroy which is a 1 minute walk from the apartment. Calle Moreno Monroy is off Calle Marques de Larios. Here you will find La Barra de Zapata, KGB, La Taberna de Monroy, and La Vinoteca de Moreno. This street also has La Burgesita which I already indicated under the hamburger options. If you are in the mood for pinxtos, La Taberna del Pinxtos is our favourite. Located on Calle Alarcon Lujan, 12, just off Calle Marques de Larios and a short 5 minute walk from the apartment. This restaurant has cold pinxtos on display and after 1:00pm waiters bring warm options from the kitchen for patrons to select.
